I’m sorry, but I was made of bubbles.

I let you waste so much of your breath inflating my ego,
Believing I could rise
And be more than the puddle you found.

But I was gone in an instant
At the slightest pressure
When you asked me to be more.

And although there was tension on the surface,
I know deep down I popped
Because I wasn’t strong enough
To hold myself together
