Basal
There are two types of tears.
Sad Tears:
The ones that overflow when you are so full of rage and anguish and guilt and confusion. The ones that flood uncontrollably, devastating the landscape around you.
Leaving a path of exhaustion in its wake.
Taking everything and bequeathing you nothing but pain and fatigue.
Until you are left empty and broken from a natural disaster.
Happy Tears:
Like clearing leaves from a drain, allowing stagnant water to drain.
Letting the water flow out the bottom, rather than spill over the top.
Releasing the clutter, and letting the current just carry you with it. The course is controlled and steady, and seems almost endless.
A relief.
I can’t remember the last time I cried Happy Tears.
