Deciduous
I envy the Pine Tree and its needlelike leaves
And how they stay together through the harshest times.
I’ve lost many friends
I’ve lost many leaves
They change
Fall off
Drift away in the Autumn wind
But I’ve also seen them crumble
Tear and rip themselves apart
Buried beneath compost
And still I stand, head barren but tall
Forcefully forgetting my fallen friends
But knowing the importance of letting them go.
Maybe next year I’ll get to be a Pine
Instead of a Weeping Willow.
