For All the Leaves I Dropped for You

For all the leaves I dropped for you,
The ones you threw into a heap.
Raking them up without a thought
Considering me just a chore.

But still you didn’t thank me once
For all the leaves I dropped for you.
But love the crunch beneath your feet
And watching me dance in the wind.

I wonder if you’ll hate the snow?
I know I’ll have nothing to wear.
For all the leaves I dropped for you
I may lose more than a few limbs.

But if I make it through the cold,
If you want me to hang around,
Come Spring I’ll give you enough shade
For all the leaves I dropped for you.
