Hibernal
I begged the wind to let her stay
To keep her in the light a bit longer. To hear her laugh not fade into an echo.
To keep the warmth of her glow on my face all hours of the day.
I prayed she’d be my Solstice.
And as she laid before me still,
Sleeping in her grace and illumination,
I knew I got my wish.
But as the darkest month began to end, as I shivered alone in the moonlight
I knew I had been tricked by the wind
