I Licked My Wounds With an Abrasive Tongue

When you baked the sky in a cloudy caution

Icing the horizon in sherbet dusk

Setting the sun without any caution

But to forfeit my hollow heinous husk

Smoke trickling out like a tundra tusk

I licked my wounds with an abrasive tongue

Blaming myself for the night to be brusque

With thorns in my throat and tar in my lung

Let the cricket choir cry go unsung

An ovation of footsteps from afar

Noticing the nothing I am among

Assures me this black hole was once a star

Lets watch as the languid licorice fades

And leave open, for once, the barricades
