I Wish I Could

I wish I could tell you everything will be okay.

I wish I could hold you until morning so that I can prove to you the sun still rises.

I wish I could promise you that there is still good in this world
Even though everyone around you is acting like there isn’t.

I wish I could take every ache and every pain
Every fear and every worry
Every doubt and every hesitation
Away from you, so that you can finally feel the peace you have longed for.

I wish I could make time stop,
Or at least go back,
Just so we’re given a chance to fix what’s been broken.

I wish I could.

But I can’t.

Because you and I both know

It’s a little late for wishes.
