Pillow Talk

You fall asleep, I stay awake

I listen to your gentle snore

I kick myself for what I said

How stupid could I be?

I search to find a choice of words

To clarify my vow 

But dumbstruck in awe and stammering on

With emotions overflowing

You hold me close against your breast

I whisper that I love you

I pray you’ll forget it all tomorrow

And start over at the top
