“Tell me everything won’t end in death”
I heard her whisper in my ear
We two strangers with familiar eyes
Peek through a cracked bathroom door
“If I am truly what you want, then I am here.
Here is bone and scars and flesh.
Here is me. Sagging ass and cracking joints.”
Her desire to vanish
Was stronger than Her desire to appear
You hold me close against your breast
I whisper that I love you
You look at me, your eyes jet black
I search to find a choice of words
To clarify my vow. To reiterate my promise.
But dumbstruck in awe and stammering on
With emotions overflowing
You fall asleep, I listen to your gentle snore
I kick myself for what I said
I stared at her without love in my eyes
I’ve seen this all before
Keep looking down, I tell myself.
They say there is a rift in the human soul
This is how easily the pit opens
They all hate it
They shudder pathetically at it
I dare myself to finish what I started
I think, has something blotted out the idea of mind?
Here is where the world ends
I waited and was patient
My soul shattered with the strain of finishing
She is making love
As I drift between Earth and Death
