I wish I could blame it all on the Scarecrow I was

Hollow and Spineless

Who had straw instead of a brain

The one who allowed himself to be crucified to a pole, rather than stand up for himself

Rooted to the ground, unable to walk away

Planted in the field to scare away old friends and new

I wish he wasn’t so good at his job

I wish he could have shown me the way out of the maze instead of just getting me more lost

I wish I could blame it all on the Scarecrow I was
