The Captain’s Lament

We’re told
“Out of sight, Out of mind”

But when I see a ship
Pass into the distance
I can’t help but wonder
What’s on the other side

And suddenly life has less meaning

For I’m out of my mind
For what’s out of my sight

Losing interest in all I am
And all I do

For the world is too vast to stay

Leave the roots to the trees
And the tides to the seas

As we were meant
To chase Horizons
