But Now I Know Showing You Mercy is a Mistake

We can torture ourselves

Obsessing over the past, ridiculing our egos with the knowledge that we are not perfect

That we are flawed and that we have made mistakes

A penance for what we have done and to whom we have done it to

But maybe…. Just maybe

We can be blessed enough

To still have those sparks in our life

Who don’t care what we have seen or done

That will remind us to stand.

To stand and face this burning inferno we called trauma,

And accept the heat it gives off,

Encourage us to turn our backs on it and walk away.

These sparks will hold your hand the whole way through

As you move on from the flames

Into the shadows

And inspire you to go find a new light
