Foliage

And before I knew it, all the leaves had fallen

Leaving the trees bare like bones

Reaching high into the sky, as if to beg the Sun for some warmth.

And I was forced to accept that change had happened, right before my very eyes

Without ever sparking concern.

We dance in the leaves as they fall like confetti and we watch in awe as the colors dim to brown

But once it’s over, it always catches us off guard.

I learned you can’t stop change, and you certainly can’t ignore it either.

It will happen, whether you dance in it or not.

Whether you marvel in it

Whether you beg the Sun for it.

Change will happen.

You will Fall.

But you will also get back up and rise

You will grow.

Sometimes without even noticing.
