It Feels Good to be Home

I’ve wandered through countless quiet nights
Trying to build a home
Out of stardust and silence

But every roof I tried to sleep beneath
Left me colder than before

Then you came along
And held me

Not like a question,
Not like something to figure out,
But like an answer we both already knew

You didn’t ask me
To be softer,
Or stronger,
Or less broken

You just opened your arms
And let me step inside
As if I was coming home
Like I’ve done my whole life

Here
In the still of your chest,
In the hush between our breaths,
Is the place where my rest begins

Where I’m not just safe,
But seen

Where I’m not just wanted,
But welcomed

No bricks.
No walls.
Just you.

And somehow,
That’s enough to call it
Home
