In Japan, there is an art that takes broken pottery and mends the cracks with a lacquer of gold.
Acknowledging it’s imperfections,
Rather than hiding it, embracing it
Showcasing it
Making it a focal point of pride, not shame.
Our grief and our trauma
Broke us.
But in breaking us, it also made us.
Fill the cracks in your heart with a gold lacquer of love. As a reminder that yes, you went through it.
I’ll say it again,
You went through it.
And you have come out the other side. You made it.
You’re so much stronger for it.
You may feel less, you may feel small, you may feel so alone
But you have a heart of gold.
Just know
I am proud of you. And I love you.
