Paint By Numbers

I use to be very bad at coloring books

Staying within the shape was never my strong suit

I would get too chaotic

Too crazy

With the colors

And before I knew it

I had a green sheep

And a blue farmer

And a note home from my teacher

"Pictures mean things" she said

Images have a purpose

And they're more than just the outlines of the art

But everything in-between matters too

So I'm sorry

For when you say you need time

Or when you say you need space

That I jump to conclusions

And fill in the gaps

With more chaos and crazy

I'm trying my best

To take in every angle

And truly see the whole picture

And understand the context

Between the lines
