Well Wails
Let me hear your well wishes.
Your thoughts and your prayers.
Shout them into the abyss of me and toss me your coins.
Those who pray for success and riches, but never fully see just how much they have already accomplished. Resorting to my wretched waterways to achieve their goals for them, when all they really need has been inside them all along.
The ones who desire forgiveness, but deep down they just want freedom. Freedom from the burden they’ve been carrying from these regrets. Hoping that I can make them forget their mistakes, like I’m sure everyone else already has.
The beggars who think I can grant them love. Who come by every day crying, rather than going out looking. Wasting their time on imagining what love can be instead of going find out for themselves. Who don’t understand that love is work. And work takes time.
You give me all your aches, so don’t walk away when I echo them back.
Because I’m just like you. Except I don’t have a well to cry into.
You talk to me. But all I want is for you to talk with me.
So that I can tell you all of this. So that I can tell you your wish has been granted.
So that maybe all our dreams can come true.
