Thus Weary of the World

There is a danger in numbness

We can laugh, force a smile

Recite our lines

Shed a tear when expected

All depending on the audience we are performing for.

But when the curtain falls,

And we’re backstage alone,

Listening to the applause fade and the stage crew go home

When we are left… staring into darkness

We feel nothing

Or is it like how white is considered all the colors mixed together?

Are we just feeling everything all at once? Rather than nothing at all?

Is that better?

When you’re numb, you can’t feel the shards of your heart pierce your chest or a dagger pushed in your back…

But you also are blind to just how many daggers there are

Yes. There is a danger in numbness
